A Little Balance Goes a Long Way

I know. I know.  We all have heard many times that the key to having success with managing our lives - including managing weight - is achieving balance.  And for years I had myself convinced that while this was a laudible goal, it was one I would never come close to achieving.  And then life happened and I was forced to slow down.  And at that point I had to come to terms with how out of balance my life actually was.

I have found that work is the addiction that I have use for years to cover up other gaps in my life.  And when I reached the point that it was destroyi8ng me physically, and I had to stop doing what I was doing, I found that it was, in fact, the cover for all the imbalance.  It's taken me a couple of years to figure out what I want those other parts to be, and now that I am working hard on a regular basis again, I see how crucial having balance really is.
How many of us actually schedule time into our days and weeks to take care of ourselves?  I'm not talking just about doctor and dentist appointments, I talking about getting a massage, or a pedicure, or going to the gym, or just hanging out with friends.  These all used to seem like extravagent wastes of time that I either didn't have time for or didn't deserve.  And now they are all a regular part of my life.  I also take time during the day to take care of me.

Ever have those moments when anxiety or fear or frustration seem to ovewhelm you?  It's natural.  Now I come to a full stop, acknowledge that it's happening, take a couple of minutes to decompress, calm down, and center myself.  Amazing how taking 5 minutes for me has saved me hours of frustration.

You are the only one who controls your body and mind and what goes into them  You have the choice to absorb negative energy or not, and you have the power to either store it within you or release it.  I have spent years storing it with the resulting achievement of gastric upsent, weight gain and skin outbreaks.  I now choose to release it before it gets stored.

Give it a try.  You may surprise yourself at how achieving a little balance every day builds your dsire and need for having more in your life on a regular basis.
