Tap Your Way to Freedom

Little by little, I am introducing each of my clients to a wonderful tool called EFT - emotional freedom technique.  It is simple for anyone to use on their own, easy to learn, totally flexible, and provides immediate and sometimes dramatic results.  EFT is a tapping technique where you tap on the energy flow points in your body while addressing your issue.  Many cultures have traditions of the role of energy and blocked flow of energy as the root cause of disease.  EFT helps unblock this flow allowing you to then take a new look at your issue.
What do I use it for?
Eliminating fears and phobias
Eliminating cravings
Settling and centering myself
Overcoming resistence to change, just to name a few examples.

There are several steps:
The setup - identify what the problem is, what's happening now, what is or isn't working the way I want it to, and acknowledge that no matter what is going on, I love and accept myself
Identify my discomfort level on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being unbearable
Tapping through the problem - EFT uses tapping along the major meridians in the body, primarily on the head and face, the upper body, and sometimes the hands.  As I tap, I state my problem in any way that the words come to me - they seem to change as I tap.  At the end of a round of tapping, I take a deep breath and see how I feel, seeing what my 1-10 level is.  Most of the time it goes down, and if it isn't 0, I continue tapping.  The more I tap through these sequences, the lower my level goes, and I am usually able to identify what I want to have happen instead of the problem I started with.
Example:  I am really craving something sweet but I am trying not to eat sweets.  My craving is an 8 when I start, so I start tapping on this craving.  As I tap, I further identify that what I really want is chocolate ice cream, so I change my language from craving sweets to craving ice cream.  At the end of the 2nd round of tapping, my craving is down to a 3 but not gone; I then choose what I want instead of the craving, perhaps losing that 5lbs I am working on.  So I begin tapping on the positive instead of the craving.  There are a couple of advanced techniques that can take your craving to 0, but you get the drift.
You are taking your whole mind away from the craving, focussing on your present state and what you want, centering the energy in your body and your brain, and totally distracting yourself from where you started.
